The Good News

Three scientists—Papaia, Banani, Ravioli—and their assistant Igor, after numerous challenges, finally arrive at the renowned conference on dark matter. However, Ravioli, disobeying a working plumber’s advice, uses an out-of-service restroom, causing a flood in the conference center and leading to the cancellation of the event.

Now, aboard the return flight, the scientists engage in a theological discussion.

Papaia: But you said it would be…

Ravioli: Exactly! Until now, I’ve shared the bad news. Now comes the good: In John 3:16, we read:

> “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Banani: Did I understand correctly? It’s enough just to believe?

Ravioli: Listen to how Paul continues in Romans 3:23-24:

> “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

Papaia: Justified? But how is that possible? Didn’t you say it would be unjust if God simply forgave us like that?

Ravioli: Yes, and here’s the key difference! If God had merely overlooked our sins, it would have been unjust. But Jesus, the only one who lived without sin, died on the cross in our place.

Banani: You mean one man paid the price for all humanity’s sins?

Ravioli: Exactly! This concept was well-known to Old Testament Jews: for forgiveness of sins, they offered sacrifices of innocent animals, but their effect was only temporary. Jesus, however, made a definitive and perfect sacrifice.

In Hebrews 9:11-14, we read:

> “But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands… He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.”

Papaia: So believing in Jesus is the only way to be saved?

Ravioli: Exactly! In John 14:6-7, Jesus himself says:

> “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”

Papaia: So now we have the answer: Jesus came to earth, died on the cross to save us from hell, and to remove the separation between us and God!

Ravioli: Yes! If we acknowledge our need for Jesus as our Savior and believe in him, we are saved!

Igor: In any case, on this earth, we still have many trials to face. For Papaia, it’s like… remembering his head when leaving the house!
