Inside, a messy kid’s bedroom. Cables, a Commodore 64 keyboard, an excited dog, and two kids: Banani and Henry.

BANANI (voice-over)

That day it was raining hard. No playground.

So I decided to spend time on my second favorite hobby: scientific experiments.

Banani and Henry, kneeling on the floor, are working on a plywood box. On one side, the Commodore 64 keyboard is connected with improvised cables.

HENRY

Wait… so you want to put Flaffy in there… with the keyboard?

BANANI

Exactly! The dog’s random movements will simulate millions of years of evolution.

The goal: type one line of BASIC. “10 PRINT ‘HELLO WORLD!’”

HENRY

Uhm… sounds… brilliant?

BANANI

It is. It’s statistics. If it works, we can redo it with a hamster and DOS.

They close the box with the dog inside. Flaffy starts moving. Key presses can be heard.

BANANI (voice-over)

According to my calculations, he could’ve typed something meaningful in a couple of hours…

But after just a few seconds, the dog starts whining. The box begins to shake.

FLAFFY

Uuuuuh…

HENRY

Uhm… Banani… I don’t think Flaffy’s enjoying this…

BANANI

Wait, wait… any second now…!

Flaffy whines louder. Banani panics and tries to open the box. It won’t budge.

BANANI

Oh no… it’s stuck! It won’t open!

HENRY

(backing away slowly)

I… I think I should go. My mom told me to leave if stuff like… this happens.

BANANI

Henry! What are you doing?! Help me! Flaffy’s in there!

HENRY

(running toward the door)

Sorry Banani! But I don’t want to get in trouble with your mom! Or with Darwinism!

Henry runs out. Banani is left alone, desperate in front of the box. Footsteps: the door opens — it’s his father.

FATHER

What’s going on here?!

After a few seconds, he manages to free Flaffy. The dog comes out trembling but unharmed. The father kneels down and looks Banani in the eyes.

FATHER

Banani… listen, in life you always need to be ready with a toolkit.

He pulls out a small pouch and shows it to him.

FATHER

Everything’s in here: screwdriver, tweezers, Swiss Army knife, wire stripper, nail clipper… even a nose hair trimmer. Never leave home without it. It’s a life rule.

—

SCENE — Back to Faggioli’s office

Banani pulls a small toolkit from his pocket, with a nostalgic look.

BANANI

Since that day, I never go anywhere without my kit. I always have it with me.

FAGGIOLI

And from then on, you started fixing everything.

IGOR

Except Flaffy’s trauma…

🤣🤣🤣

FAGGIOLI

(quietly jotting down notes)

… animal abuse… possible sadism…

🤣🤣🤣

FAGGIOLI (aloud)

… do go on, Banani…

🤣🤣🤣

Previous

Next

Three scientists — Papaia, Banani, and Ravioli — and their assistant Igor, who work at NASAL, begin to take an interest in creationism.
