Three scientists \u2014 Papaia, Banani, and Ravioli \u2014 and their assistant Igor, who work at NASAL, start getting interested in creationism. Their superiors, worried, send them to the psychologist, Professor Faggioli, a shady character determined to get them fired by making them look insane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are in Professor Faggioli\u2019s office, where Ravioli is undergoing evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ravioli was telling the story of when, on Christmas Eve, he made all his relatives throw up, after his mother emptied his old backpack, full of rotten fish hidden there since middle school, in front of everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faggioli (very serious, taking notes):<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“So, Ravioli, how did you feel when you sabotaged the entire Christmas Eve, turning it into a biological evacuation operation?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ravioli (embarrassed):<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Bad\u2026 but surely not as bad as my cousins, who threw up all over each other\u2019s brand-new sweaters!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faggioli (nodding impassively):<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Tell me about the sweaters… it seems like a crucial detail.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ravioli:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I don\u2019t know… they were the classic Christmas sweaters. White, red, and green, kind of crocheted.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faggioli (interested):<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“You said crocheted… that seems like a key word. What does it bring to mind?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ravioli:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I don\u2019t know… maybe my grandma?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faggioli (taking detailed notes):<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Primary emotional connection compromised by olfactory trauma.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ravioli (confused):<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Uh… okay?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faggioli (serious):<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“While you were telling the story, I noticed a noteworthy element.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ravioli:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“What is it, Professor?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faggioli (without changing expression):<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“You\u2019re surprisingly skilled at imitating your mother\u2019s voice.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ravioli:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Yeah\u2026 I had to learn at school. It was the only way I knew to distract the bullies from my… stinky backpack.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Igor then commented:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Oh, brilliant strategy. Pretending to be your mother to defend a smelly backpack. Freud would\u2019ve written three volumes about that \u2014 and no one would\u2019ve read them!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
